North Irish Sea Razor Fisheries Consultation 2014

The Minister is seeking stakeholder views on proposals for new management measures for razor clam fisheries in the Irish Sea from Dublin north to the Louth coast.
The proposals have been prepared by the North Irish Sea Razor Fishermen's Organisation which includes razor clam fishermen operating out of ports from Dublin, Meath and Louth. The group is concerned about the management of the razor clam stocks and the future viability of the fishery, in the north Irish Sea, as a result of recent increases in fishing effort brought about by an expansion in market demand. Advice was obtained from the Marine Institute and the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority in developing this proposal
Details of the proposals can be viewed here – North Irish Sea Razor Proposal (pdf 2,922Kb)
Submissions can be made online at or the submission form Razor Submission Form (doc 113Kb) - can be completed and emailed or posted to the addresses below.
