Minister Coughlan further streamlines application procedure under the Farm Waste Management Scheme

The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan TD, today reminded farmers who wished to avail of the generous terms of the current Farm Waste Management Scheme that applications for grant-aid under the Scheme must be received by her Department by end-2006. She advised any farmer who intends to apply for grant-aid under the Scheme and who has not yet been in touch with his/her agricultural advisor to do so immediately in view of this deadline, taking account also of the forthcoming Christmas holiday period.

The Minister stated that she had already modified the requirements regarding the submission of applications which involved planning permission. In view of the very significant interest in the Scheme, the Minister has concluded that further adjustments to the requirements relating to the submission of applications under the Scheme are necessary. The Minister therefore has announced that she has introduced certain administrative changes which will streamline the application process. Officials of her Department have been in contact with the representatives of both private planners and also Teagasc to ensure that all applications which they receive and pass on to the Department by the end-2006 deadline will be accepted under the Scheme. The Minister has also arranged that any drawings which must accompany the application form can be submitted to her Department by 31 March 2007 provided a completed application form is received by her Department before the end of 2006.

The Minister stated: "I am confident that these new arrangements will provide every farmer with the opportunity to submit an application under the Scheme by the end-2006 deadline. I would ask every farmer interested in availing of the generous grants available to make immediate contact with his or her planner."
