The National Control Plan for Ireland

Regulation 882/2004 is directed at the development and performance of official controls in five main areas:

  • Food Law
  • Feed Law
  • Animal Health Rules
  • Animal Welfare Rules
  • Plant Health Rules

Articles 41 to 44 of this Regulation require Member States to produce a single, integrated, multi-annual control plan which covers all of these sectors. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food collaborated with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland to produce this plan. It contains general information on the structure and organisation of the systems of controls of food, feed, animal health and animal welfare in Ireland. The plan also extends to plant health controls in respect of the rules included in Council Directive 2000/29/EC.
