A 16 hour elective course in organic farming is available to third and fourth year students within the Faculty of Agriculture.

The objective of the course is to give students an overview of the principles of organic farming and the following topics are covered.

  • Terminology & Organic Organisations,
  • Converting to Organic Farming,
  • Maintenance of Soil Fertility,
  • Weed, pest and disease prevention and control,
  • Organic grassland,
  • Principles of livestock husbandry and
  • Marketing organic produce.
