Data Protection Notice - Corporate Affairs Division

All personal data processed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will take place in accordance with the law on Data Protection and will only be for the purposes connected to the functions of this Department.

General Data Protection information applicable to all customers can be found at the following page on the Department’s website.

The following is specific information in relation to the personal data processed for the purpose of addressing general queries and Parliamentary Questions. The queries are received directly from the individuals or from their Public Representatives.

  1. Specified Purpose

Personal data is gathered and processed for the purpose of answering general queries and Parliamentary Questions about services or information about those services.

  1. Legal Basis and Consent

It is assumed that when a Public Representative makes an official representation on behalf of an individual, the consent has been provided to seek such information.

  1. Recipients 

The recipients of the personal data are staff of the Oireachtas Liaison Unit, Minister’s Office, Minister of State’s Office and Co-Ordination Unit, Corporate Affairs Division. Within the same purpose and legal basis outlined above, personal data can move through other Divisions of this Department.

  1. Retention Period

Information processed for this purpose will only be retained for as long as there is a business need to do so and thereafter will be marked for deletion and will be destroyed in line with internal guidelines or guidelines for destruction received from the National Archives Office or associated permissions received from them.

  1. Data Provision

The data provided for this purpose is being requested on a legal basis and if the customer chooses not to provide this information their application cannot proceed.

  1. Information from Third Party

In circumstances where this Department did not gather the personal data, the data subject is still entitled to exercise their rights in relation to this personal data and the details on how to exercise individuals rights are detailed above.
