Storage of Butter

Private Storage of Butter (Governed by Regulation 826/2008)

Aid for the private storage of butter is a scheme to subsidise the temporary storage of butter in order to offset the seasonal market imbalance between supply and demand.

The scheme is operated by means of contracts between applicants for aid and the Department of Agriculture & Food.

The scheme is an alternative to public intervention in that the products remain the property of the storers to sell at their unrestricted discretion at the end of the storage period.
