International Trade

The International Trade Section is responsible for the development and co-ordination of policy on international trade matters, notably concerning the WTO, and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between the EU and third countries, with a view to ensuring that Irish agri-food interests are effectively represented.

The section also has primary responsibility for all inward visits - typically by Agriculture Ministers or Ambassadors - and outward visits - typically trade missions planned with the assistance of other Departments and agencies - from and to third countries. It also develops and represents Ireland’s position in relation to EU Enlargement.
