Exotic Disease Submissions
An Exotic Disease is one which does not usually occur in or is foreign to a region or country.
The Irish legislation covering the control of exotic animal diseases is the Diseases of Animals Act 1966, as amended.
Information on the control of farm animal exotic diseases in Ireland is available here.
Specialist sampling plans are often required and there are detailed contingency plans in place for the primary exotic diseases.
If you suspect an exotic disease in farm animals, contact your local District Veterinary Office who will take the appropriate action.
