Organic Farming Research at Bord Bia
In July 2003 Bord Bia published a report titled 'Organic Food Market Developments - An Irish Perspective' which provides an update on Bord Bia's previous organic food research carried out in 2000.
The key areas examined in the 2003 Report include
- European market trends and future growth prospects
- Irish consumer attitudes and buying behaviour in relation to organic food
- Developments in the Irish organic food sector and future market prospects
The research into Irish consumer attitudes in relation to organic food was a combination of 6 focus groups and a quantitative survey of 620 shoppers, with the aim being to identify key issues in the focus group work and quantify these during the quantitative phase. Given the availability of the 2000 consumer research, Bord Bia were also able to assess how attitudes had changed between 2000 and 2003.
