How to register as an organic operator

Under Council Regulation EC 834/2007 (pdf 190Kb) as amended and Council Regulation EC 889/2008 (pdf 1,782Kb) as amended, an organic operator must notify the detail of their organic enterprise to the Department and submit it to inspection. Accordingly any operator who produces, prepares or imports from a third country organic produce for the purpose of marketing it must:

1.Submit their enterprise to inspection and certification by one of the following inspection bodies:

2. Register with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. A registration form (ORG1) must be completed by both the operator and the relevant inspection body above.
