Voluntary Supply Management Scheme for the Dairy Sector

The EU has introduced a package of measures for the dairy sector agreed at the July Council of Agriculture Ministers. One of these measures is an aid scheme to fund milk producers who voluntarily engage in milk production reduction over a 3 month period. There is a total budget of €150 million allocated for the EU as a whole for the scheme. This would equate to a reduction in production of 1.1 million tonnes if fully utilised.

Details regarding implementation of the scheme at national level have been finalised following discussion with relevant industry stakeholders, including farm organisations and industry.

The documents attached below provide the main details in terms of key questions and application procedures and forms for same.

Farmers interested in finding out more about the scheme or applying to participate should contact their cooperative/purchaser in the first instance
